The Beaufort is a traditional coaching inn right in the heart of Raglan in Monmouthshire, with 15 en-suite rooms, a restaurant and bar. It is a welcoming and friendly place to work, with a variety of guests and customers, both local regulars and visitors from all over the UK and beyond.
About the job
We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper; someone who is detail-oriented and has the ability to work independently and accurately.
Duties of the job include (this is not an exhaustive list):
· maintaining accurate financial records
· running sales reports and balancing sales and takings on weekly basis
· bank, cash and customer card payment reconciliations on a weekly basis
· cashflow management
· managing accounts payable and receivable
· perform other account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
· preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
· preparing weekly payroll information for external payroll provider; maintaining HR and holiday records; processing weekly payments to staff and posting wage journals to Sage
· preparation for year end accounts (produced by external accountant)
Experience/skills
· experience of using Sage 50
· solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices, including posting journals between nominal accounts
· self-motivated and used to managing own workload
· integrity, confidentiality and accuracy
· good communication skills
Hours
We expect the bookkeeper to work around 8 – 9 hours per week; it will be necessary to come into the Beaufort for a few hours on a Monday or Tuesday each week, but the rest can be done from home.
This is a self-employed position, hourly rate to be negotiated.

Salary: £20.00-£25.00 per hour

- Raglan: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- bookkeeping: 3 years (preferred)
